Can you believe it? Another decade has flown right by! I look back on the first decade of my life, then the second and now the third and the third seems like it has gone by the quickest! When I was younger, time seemed to pass by a lot slower. But it’s weird because they say time flies when you’re having fun, and when you’re a kid, you’re usually always trying to find ways to have fun, right? So how does that even make sense that time seemed slower when we were kids?
A lot happened in my life in the last 10 years. I moved to Washington DC, moved back home, got engaged, had a baby, got a dog, started my blogging business, and now I am getting ready to get married next June! I think after I had my son, time really started flying by and now I highly doubt it’ll ever slow down! But I’m excited for the new decade yet a little scared at the same time. Scared of growing older. Scared of my family growing older. What has helped me with those fears is telling myself not to think in the past or the future too much as it can cause depression and anxiety. Examples of this is when you think too much about the past, you’re either thinking of bad things that happened in your life or you’re wishing you could go back in time. When you think of the future, you could either be worried about what’s to come or worried about getting older. When I focus on the present moment, I’m happier and my mind is clearer and calmer. Besides, we are all getting older and we can’t stop time so we have a choice to either be scared or live our life to the fullest with no regrets! I choose the latter. What about you?
I am thankful for my past and the lessons I have learned along the way. I’m thankful for my health, my family and my new business! I’m a big believer in God and knowing that He will provide and he won’t give more than we can handle! I’m also a strong believer in that everything happens for a reason.
As for the start of the next new decade, 2020 already has a lot in store for me. My blogging business will be growing and taking off, I will be married, I have my travel plans figured out and my future husband and I will be discussing plans to either buy a new home, build or move to a whole new city. So yes, it’s nice to have plans sometimes BUT I’m trying not to think about all of that and instead I am living in the present moment, enjoying the last month of the decade and focusing on buying gifts for friends and family and putting up my Christmas décor. Even though I have exciting plans for next year, I’m certainly not trying to rush my life!
Speaking of Christmas, here’s a look at my tree and décor! (I can’t wait to get a bigger tree when I have a bigger house! 🙂 )
I absolutely LOVE Christmas, it’s truly my favorite Holiday. What’s yours? I love the snow, hot chocolate with marshmallows, hallmark and lifetime Christmas movies, shopping online, watching everyone open up their gifts and seeing smiles on everyone’s faces. That is what life should be all about – Smiles and Happiness ALL through the year!
I wish everyone great luck in this next decade and remember:
- Past = Depression
- Future = Anxiety
- Present = PEACE
